Cardio for hormones

Don’t drop the cardio for weights just yet.

Cardio still excites your metabolism in way that weights can’t, according to research published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. A study found that cardio training on an exercise bike caused three times the amount of the metabolic hormone FGF21 to be created. Actually produced by the liver, FGF21 is a newly identified wonder peptide that has many beneficial metabolic affects, including weight loss and improved blood sugar regulation, as well as anti-inflammatory roles in cardiac muscles. In other words, a solid cardio session will give you different benefits to a weights session, so it’s worth including both types of training in your regimen.
